William Douglas, MD
Bill Douglas is a pediatric cardiac surgeon at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO. Prior to moving to Kansas City, Bill was born in New York City, but his family moved to Tillamook Oregon, where he lived through the age of 13. His family then moved to Portland, where he graduated from Wilson High School. During high school, he worked part-time as a typist and EKG technician at the Oregon Health Sciences University. He attended college at the University of California-Berkeley. Although he majored in economics, he was pre-med throughout his 4 years at Cal. He attended the UCLA School of Medicine, then did his surgical training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (general surgery), Case Western Reserve University (cardiac surgery), and the University of Michigan (pediatric cardiac surgery). He held faculty positions at the University of Kentucky (2000-2007) and the University of Texas-Houston (2007-2017) prior to obtaining his current position as an attending surgeon at Children’s Mercy Hospital in 2017.
- Bill married his lovely wife, Sue Ann, in 1991. Sue Ann is a successful pediatric dermatologist in Kansas City. They have 7 children.
